INDICIA
Imprinted designations on mail pieces to denote payment of postage.
Printed in the upper right corner of the envelope, usually used
for bulk mail.
INSERTING MACHINE
Automatically inserts enclosures into envelopes.
INSIDE TINT
The overall printed image on the inside of an envelope in order
to make the envelope opaque or less transparent.
IMAGE AREAS
Portions of the printing plate that pop up and print the ink onto
the paper or substrate.
IMPRESSION
The image transferred from the printing plate to the substrate.
IMPRESSION CYLINDER
The cylinder on a printing press over which the material feeds to
pick up the impression from the inked plate.
IMPRINTING
The term for printing made-up envelopes for inventory — either
plain or pre-printed.
