WESTERN STATES ENVELOPE & LABEL EARNS TWO CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY CERTIFICATIONS

BUTLER, WI - 10/15/07 - Western States Envelope & Label of Butler, Wisconsin
Western States Envelope & Label headquartered in Butler, WI has earned both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) chain-of-custody certifications. The certifications apply to all four of the company's envelope manufacturing facilities: Butler, WI - Toledo, OH - Erlanger, KY - Vadnais Heights, MN.

The FSC and SFI Standards cover all aspects of responsible forestry including environmental, social, and economic concerns. Chain-of-custody certification gives Western States the ability to certify its products that originate from responsibly managed forests.

"This makes us a key link in the chain from certified forest to wood pulp, paper, our envelope products, the certified printer, and the consumer," said Steve Brocker, Vice President - Sales and Marketing for Western States. "Our employees deserve all the credit for implementing our chain-of-custody process and passing audits from accredited certifier SGS Systems - a worldwide certification company."

With increasing demand for paper products from responsibly managed forests, Western States has taken a leading role in becoming a certified chain-of-custody source to its customers.
